Abstract

Traditional markets play an important role in Indonesia’s economy, particularly as distribution centers for agricultural products such as vegetables, fruits, spices, and other local commodities. However, their existence is increasingly challenged by modern markets and e-commerce platforms that employ more attractive promotional strategies. The lack of engaging promotional media has contributed to the declining interest of consumers, especially among younger generations, to shop at traditional markets. Therefore, creative and interactive promotional media are needed. This research designs a 2D animation media based on motion graphics using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method as a means of supporting the promotion of agricultural products in traditional markets. The development stages include concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing, and distribution. The animation was developed using Adobe Flash CS6 with a duration of 1–2 minutes, presenting a storyline about shopping experiences at traditional markets. The results of the black box testing show that the animation functions according to the design, while the respondent test indicates positive feedback regarding visual display, storyline, and promotional appeal. This study concludes that 2D animation media can serve as an effective promotional tool to increase consumer interest in shopping at traditional markets while also supporting the preservation of local culture.
