Waste management problems in the school environment remain a significant issue, particularly due to students’ low level of understanding and habitual practice in waste segregation. Poorly managed waste negatively affects cleanliness, comfort, and environmental health in schools. This Community Service Program (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PKM) aimed to improve students’ knowledge, attitudes, practices, and environmental awareness through waste segregation education in schools. The method employed a participatory approach consisting of initial observation, interactive counseling, simulation and hands-on waste segregation practices, provision of supporting media, as well as evaluation and monitoring. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test instruments with a scoring scale of 1–5. The results showed an increase in scores across all assessed aspects, including students’ knowledge, environmental attitudes and awareness, waste segregation practices, 3R (reduce and reuse) habits, student involvement, teachers’ roles, school facilities, and overall school environmental cleanliness. These improvements indicate that education accompanied by hands-on practice is effective in encouraging positive behavioral change among students. Therefore, waste segregation education can serve as an effective and sustainable strategy for fostering environmental awareness and establishing a clean and environmentally friendly school culture
